Shelley Deeks
Dr. Shelley Deeks is the Chief of Communicable Diseases, Emergency Preparedness and Response at Public Health Ontario and an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She has a long-standing interest in and passion for communicable disease control and immunization in general, and vaccine safety in particular, with over 130 peer-reviewed publications. She is a member of Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts Polio Working Group, and the Gavi Vaccine Alliance, Vaccine Innovation Prioritisation Strategy (VIPS) Steering Committee. Dr. Deeks holds Fellowships in Public Health in both Canada and Australia and completed the Canadian Field Epidemiology Program. She has over 20 years’ experience as a public health physician and has worked at all levels of the public health system in Canada, and at the national level in Australia.
