Using Motivational Interviewing to Engage Parents of Grade 6 Students who are Hesitant about HPV Vaccine

"This presentation provides information on an intervention in which public health nurses (PHNs) in British Columbia used motivational interviewing to address vaccine hesitancy in parents who did not consent to their children being vaccinated with the HPV vaccine in grade 6 in the Comox Valley. Guidance on how the PHNs were prepped to use the motivational interviewing technique are outlined. The results of the intervention showed that most parents responded positively to speaking with the PHNs about the HPV vaccine and their hesitancy." - Using Motivational Interviewing to Engage Parents of Grade 6 Students who are Hesitant about HPV Vaccine
