"The most substantial effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on children have related more to disruptions in educational, physical, and social activities than direct viral effects. Nonetheless, there have been small numbers of cases of severe COVID-19 and COVID-19-associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome that have caused significant direct morbidity. With the arrival of the more transmissible Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, more children are becoming infected and consequently, the numbers of children with severe disease are increasing. Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available in Canada for children and adolescents aged 12 years and over. The Canadian Paediatric Society advocates for the vaccination of all children and adolescents aged 12 years and over." - Canadian Paediatric Society
